Is this a bad sign - What is the best way to handle this situation?

If you're going to get fired, they would keep you at the stuff you are bad at, so they'll have a reason to let you go. I would say that you are lucky - you must be so good at the other parts of your job, that they are willing to overlook the stuff you are not so good at and give it to someone else. Just work really hard at the stuff you're good at and try to become as indispensable as possible.
