Can Active Transport also be pive?

Is Active transport just active like the name implies or can it also be pive? The reason i ask is b/c i read that "Carrier-Mediated Transport, which helps or ists these types of membrane transports listed above (active transport and facillitated diffusion) can be BOTH Active and Pive...so then if thats true,wouldn't Active transport also be both since it uses the istance??
