I need some cute names and some info?

Well my gerbil teddy is reaching his life expectancy. Hes about 4 years old idk how long theyre supposed to live but im planning on getting a rat soon. I heard they are better pets because they are so intelligent and very friendly. Is this really true? I need some cute rat names. I want a male. I was thinking Remy or Cricket. Thnks for your help:)
