Is it illegal to peddle commodities on school grounds?

That is to say, am I infringing any state law by selling a desirable good on my school campus? The item in question is not illicit by any means nor does it have any copyright attachments. I go to a public school in the state of California. Is this strictly a question of the actual code of conduct established and enforced by the school itself?
