In virtual villagers 2 my village is almost dead PLEASE HELP?

i have been playing the game for quite some time now and i don't want to lose my progress. I got home and check it i had 13 villagers and now i only have two male adults and 2 female children left i have paused the game so in can get advice before i do anything but what should i do to restore my community so i don't lose. Thanks so much for your help whoever answers this. :)
